The antenna is mounted on a FR4 dielectric substrate having a dimension of 48 x 60 mm2. A 50 ohm microstrip feed line is used to excite the antenna. In order to realize wide bandwidth, a slot is etched in the ground. For each and every iteration, the slot dimension is adjusted in order to achieve desired results. In the later section of the paper, a U shaped slot is inserted in the microstrip feed line which leads to an effective band rejection of 1.72 GHz (5.869 GHz -- 4.149 GHz). The antenna shows stable radiation patterns and good return loss characteristics.
