Abstract

: The article analyses literacy policies in the Brazilian context. Through a bibliographic study, we surveyed the research regarding the different conceptions of literacy present in educational policies focused on this theme. Such conception indicates the path to be followed for the realization of its main objective: the language acquisition by all children aged up to 8 years old. It is concluded that the democratization of language acquisition by students, in addition to being theoretical, method or technical issue, is related to the local scope, a complex space that involves several actors, forms and processes, which enhance the creative choice of different paths that allow the qualification of educational processes and, particularly, of literacy.
