After more than 10 years of technological development, smart grid has achieved remarkable social and economic benefits worldwide. The intelligentization of the power grid requires the integration of a variety of information and creates new value. Therefore, the update of communication technology is crucial to the development of the smart grid. More and more attention is being paid to 5G applications and pilots in smart grid. In the paper, we aim to: 1) briefly introduce the key features of 5G in smart grid applications; 2) provide an overview of the latest pilot projects; 3) summarize the development status of relevant technical standards and point out the direction of future standardization works. Abstract
A highly stable and reliable power grid is the cornerstone of sustainable social development. After more than 10 years of technological development, smart grid has achieved remarkable social and economic benefits worldwide.
