Cultivation of Cross-cultural Awareness in English Education Based on Cognitive Psychology

Abstract

Cross-cultural awareness can also be referred to as cultural awareness. Cross-cultural awareness is often described as sensitivity to cultural influences in language use and communication. In various cultures, cultivating learners' cultural awareness of cultural diversity can provide learners with knowledge and skills to communicate effectively. English teaching in China has always focused on teaching students grammar knowledge and oral English training, but it does not pay attention to introducing the differences of transnational cultures, which leads to students' ignorance of foreign cultures, which leads to the failure of communication. According to cognitive psychology, human cognitive process is the processing process of symbolic information system, and its theoretical goal is to explain and explain how people process information when completing cognitive activities. This paper analyzes the connotation of cross-cultural awareness, points out the goal and content of cross-cultural awareness training in basic English education, and then puts forward the main strategies of cross-cultural awareness cultivation in English education based on cognitive psychology.
