Abstract

Self-modulating regimes of generation in a powerful 10 /spl mu/s X-band BWO was studied theoretically and experimentally. The sequence of generation regimes and corresponding bifurcation values observed for a current increase were in good agreement with the simulation results. Finally, chaotic self-modulation was established at a current of 120 A, a power of 2 MW and relative spectral width of 4%.
