Abstract
An investigation regarding the opportunities to use photovoltaic energy for own need in residential buildings has been performed. The average monthly energy production of photovoltaic energy and energy consumption of a block of flats in Ruse (Bulgaria) are used to perform a cost-benefit analysis for different scenarios. The results showed that 6.7 kWp installed photovoltaic power would be optimal in terms of payback and installed power. Furthermore, the results led to the conclusion such installation is feasible and could be implemented on the roof of the building.
