Abstract
Scientists use information about topography to achieve a better understanding of the total Earth system and the effects of human activity on the global environment. Topographic data give scientists a better understanding of natural systems and a more reliable method for predicting changes in the Earth’s atmosphere, land and sea that are being brought on by natural events and human-induced activities.
