Salah satu tujuan ujian nasional yaitu pemetaan mutu program dan/atau satuan pendidikan. Pada tahun 2017/2018 terjadi penurunan hasil ujian nasional salah satunya mata pelajaran matematika. Penurunan tersebut disebabkan adanya soal berpikir tingkat tinggi atau Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) . Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian yaitu mendeskripsikan komposisi soal berpikir tingkat tinggi pada ujian nasional matematika tahun pelajaran 2017/2018 jurusan IPA dan jurusan IPS serta mendekripsikan soal yang memenuhi aspek telaah HOTS menurut WIdana. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan berdasarkan aspek telaah HOTS menurut Widana. Aspek telaah HOTS terdiri dari stimulus menarik, stimulus kontekstual, level kognitif HOTS dan jawaban tersirat pada stimulus. Sampel pada penelitian diambil masing-masing 3 paket pada jurusan IPA dan IPS. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah persentase. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh banyaknya soal yang termasuk berpikir tingkat tinggi pada ujian nasional matematika tahun pelajaran 2017/2018 jurusan IPA sebanyak 16 soal (13,33%) dari 120 soal, sedangkan jurusan IPS sebanyak 13 soal (10,83%) dari 120 soal. Aspek telaah menurut Widana yang sering terjadi adalah stimulus menarik yaitu soal yang berbentuk cerita, stimulus kontekstual yaitu soal yang disajikan berbentuk teks sesuai dunia nyata, level kognitif yaitu melalui proses berpikir menelaah dan menerapkan informasi serta jawaban tersirat yang mana memerlukan pemahaman informasi. One of the natioal exam goals is mapping the program quality and/or educational units. In 2017/2018, there was a decline in outcomes of the national exam, one of them was mathematics. The decline was caused by the existence of high-level thinking pro-blems or Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Therefore, the purpose of this study is to describe the composition of high-level thingking questions in 2017/2018 academic year national exam in science and social majors, and to describe the questions that comply the aspects of HOTS analysis according to Widana. The method of this research is descriptive based on the aspects of HOTS analysis according to Widana. The aspects of HOTS analysis are interesting stimulus, contextual stimulus, HOTS cognitive level, and implicit answer on stimulus. The samples in the research were three packages of mathematical questions for each in science and social majors. Data were analyzed by using percentage. Based on the result of this study, it was obtained the number of questions that included high-level thinking on the national exam in 2017/2018 academic year, those were 16 out of 120 questions (13,33%) in science major and 13 out of 120 questions (10,83%) in social major. The aspects of analysis according to Widana that often occur were interesting stimulus that is word problem, contextual stimulus that is a question presented in the form of text according to real world, cognitive level that is through the thought process in analysing and applying information and implicit answer which require understanding information.
