Abstract

This paper discusses educational issues and support offered for children with health problems, both areas being rarely explored. The empirical part consists of an analysis focused on the working environment of teachers employed at schools set up in healthcare entities. The conducted research was quantitative and aimed at examining and describing the reality of teachers who work with ill children on a daily basis. Forty-seven schools set up in healthcare entities were invited to participate in the research project. Seventeen schools responded and, in total, 187 people participated in the study. A survey questionnaire was used to collect data. Questions referred to the following issues: motivation to undertake work at school, time devoted for preparation to work, methods and techniques applied to work with children during lessons, difficulties faced, and differences between a mainstream school and one set up in a healthcare entity.
