Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of Table 130(C)(15)(a), Arc Flash PPE Categories for Alternating Current (ac) Systems, in the Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace (NFPA 70E®) as compared to using IEEE Guide for Performing Arc-Flash Hazard Calculations (IEEE 1584). This NFPA 70E table is one method for electrical workers to assess the potential severity component of arc-flash risk analysis in the United States and select suitable PPE.
