Abstract

Demand Response from residential customers by coordinating their distributed energy resources (DER) is still a challenge. This paper provides a framework to coordinate these residential DER to minimize the customer electricity bill. This is achieved by scheduling these residential DER around a threshold identified from the day ahead real time prices (DA-RTP) received by the smart meter. Methodologies to find this threshold for two types of customers namely, dispatchable-DG customer and renewable-DG customer are discussed. Simulation results showing the optimized schedules of DER and electricity bill for these customers using these methodologies are presented. Thus, the framework developed in the present work helps in realizing the fully responsive and non-disruptive load control for the smart grid customers.
