Abstract
In knowledge-based societies, the use of information and communications technology is a key part of alphabetization and lifelong learning. In recent years global efforts to mobilize knowledge are lead by open educational resources (OER). The intellectual capital deriving from OER mobilization is mainly intangible due to its knowledge-based nature. Administrators and researchers have become increasingly interested in measuring the intellectual capital of organizations insofar it is an efficient way to identify sustainable competitive advantage. In this study, the Capitals System is used as an intellectual capital framework to evaluate the OER mobilization of Cátedra Alfonso Reyes (CAR), a university unit of Tecnologico de Monterrey. As a result, the intelligence and relational capital become the most important categories of intellectual capital linked to OER mobilization of CAR. This methodology for measuring knowledge mobilization is expected to be a useful reference for future research aiming at evaluating the impact of educational technologies, such as OER.
