Considering the probabilities of losing input signals to the controller, expected damping for the critical electromechanical oscillatory modes are determined. A two input power system stabilizer that uses a local and a remote signal is considered as a test system to evaluate the expected damping. Different probabilities of failures are considered for different controller inputs and the resultant expected damping values are compared. Abstract
This paper presents a probabilistic approach to evaluate the reliability of a synchrophasor-based multi-input damping controller.
