Abstract

COBIT 2019 is in the early stages of professional and/or academic use; thus, the validation of its applicability is in development in various case studies reported in technical literature. The current research applies COBIT 2019 in the large I&T Department of a strategic military public organization of a developing country. The application uses the methodology recommended by the framework and complementary methods to design an IT governance system. Highlights of the results are the considerations about organization size, the characteristics of the public sector, and the influence of the context of a developing country. Furthermore, the report about the use of COBIT 2019 in this research contributes to expanding the knowledge about the IT governance systems design and exposes a helpful experience to the practitioners.
