This paper presents a novel Gaussian function-based model to forecast the remaining useful lifetime (RUL) of the HVCBs based on the historical failure data. The model deals with the mean time to failure reliability index instead of failure rate. Furthermore, the service type of the HVCBs is also incorporated into the proposed model. Forecasting RUL of the HVCBs is of significant value for electric utilities, especially to optimize maintenance schedules and prevent catastrophic failures. CIGRE's third survey data is utilized to compare the proposed model with the conventional models.
