Abstract
With expanding of power system infrastructure, the possibility of consumer's participation in system security and reliability improvement programs has increased. To evaluate the effectiveness of demand response (DR), two indices have been studied. In the first stage, a performance index (PI) for security assessment was introduced and has been used to identify critical points of the transmission system in normal and emergency conditions. In the next stage, the Energy not supplied (ENS) index was calculated with different percentages of DR penetration. In this study, the information of the Khorasan 400 kV transmission system has been used. To investigate the sensitivity of PI and ENs due to customer's participation, such indices were calculated for 5% and 25% demand responsivity.
