Abstract

Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) and Centralized Radio Access Network (C-RAN) appear to be key and complementary technologies for fifth generation mobile networks. In this paper, we study two MEC and C-RAN deployment scenarios by evaluating the signaling reduction for mobility management and session management procedures, and discuss the MEC potential for provisioning access to radio resource management functionality to third party applications. We provide performance analysis in terms of latency for both evaluated scenarios.
