Abstract

The authors summarize the state of knowledge of arc propagation in aerospace power wiring and efforts by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) toward the understanding of arc tracking phenomena in the space environment. Recommendations are made for additional testing. A database of the performance of commonly used insulating materials will be developed to support the design of advanced high power missions, such as Space Station Freedom and lunar/Mars exploration.<>
