Abstract
In the previous work of the authors the methodology of preliminary (rough) comparative analysis of electric traction machines for the various types of electric vehicles has been considered. Due to certain shortcomings of this technique, the present paper proposes a new methodology for an ultimate (refined) selection of traction electric motors with an example of its practical application for decision making on the selection of the optimum components for a hybrid electric propulsion system for an icebreaker's type of the ship.
