Abstract
The essential aim of the work is to illustrate and demonstrate 802.11e effects on traffic priority. Performance evaluation of DCF vs. EDCF data link layer access mechanisms for wireless LAN scenarios using ns-2 was performed. We consider that each layer parameters essentially contribute to the global QoS evaluation. Simulation results and conclusions complete and consolidate our work and vision related to the QoS layered approached which separates QoS aspects on each network layer in order to offer the possibility of selection a certain configuration according to network capabilities and correlated with user/application availability.
