OKUL ÖNCESİ ÖĞRETMENLERİNİN “VELİ” KAVRAMINA İLİŞKİN METAFORİK ALGILARI

Abstract

The aim of the present study is to determine the mental images (metaphors) of the preschool teachers on the notion of parents by using the metaphor technique. The study group consists of 112 preschool teachers that work at the preschools and nursery classes in Karsiyaka, Menemen, Cigle and Bornova in Izmir in the 2013-2014 academic year. The data was gathered through the preschool teachers’ completing the sentence ‘The preschool parent is like…. because….’. 101 different metaphors in 11 different categories were used about the metaphors the preschool teachers formed about preschool parents. When the metaphors the preschool teachers form about the parent concept are separated into cognitive categories, it was found out that the category that has the most metaphors is the ‘inhibitor preschool parent’
