Abstract

This paper presents a methodology to analyze the unit commitment problem when there is high penetration of solar generation and the changing demand generates a duck shape load curve. The analysis includes pumped hydroelectric storage system that acts by storing or inj ecting energy so that the optimal unit programming is available in terms of generation cost and the start-up of conventional generation units.
