Abstract

A method for modelling a linear synchronous drive-based transportation system is presented. The linear drive consists of power converter units, a cable network and long stator windings. These transmission elements can be modelled using two-port theory with frequency-dependent parameters. For characterisation of the frequency dependence of these parameters, polynomial functions, rational functions or equivalent circuits can be used. These characterisation techniques are compared with regard to their relative error. Furthermore, a method for transmission line parameter estimation during commissioning of the system is proposed.
