Abstract

Narrow Band (NB) Internet of Things (IoT) technology enables integration of low power devices into future Internet of Things. In this paper, both the intended technology benefits and the available solutions for IoT connectivity are analyzed in order to fully utilize the NB-IoT potential. Although existing connectivity solutions support reliable communication, they have to be adapted or upgraded in order to fulfill the requirements of IoT end-devices in the aspect of energy efficient two-way end-to-end communication. The basic remote sensing application using NB-IoT connectivity is presented in the form of the case study to support such claim.
