Abstract

Spot size converter by using nano-pixels waveguide is proposed especially, to enhance the vertical, not only the lateral, field confinement. Theoretical analysis shows a coupling efficiency of -0.6 dB at λ0=1.572 μm by combining the design SSC of a nano-pixels waveguide of 30 nano-pixels (1×2 μm2) and SiO2 window structure.
