Abstract

Verb production on a sentence repetition task was compared between three groups of six children, one group exhibiting developmental apraxia of speech (DAS), one exhibiting functional articulation problems (FAP) and a control group of normally articulating children. An analysis of variance of proportions of correct responses revealed a significant difference between the control and DAS group, and between the control and FAP group. There was no significant difference between the DAS and FAP groups. These results indicated that verb usage on a sentence repetition task cannot be employed to differentiate between DAS and FAP children.
