Two recommended medications, tiotropium bromide (TIO) and roflumilast, exert their pharmacological effects of bronchodilation and anti-inflammation respectively. This review's purpose is to elucidate two drug therapies, TIO and roflumilast for COPD comprehensively, therefore their pharmacodynamic, pharmacology and pharmacokinetic properties are reviewed. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is characterized by consistent airway obstruction, which is mainly caused by bronchoconstriction and airway inflammation. Two recommended medications, tiotropium bromide (TIO) and roflumilast, exert their pharmacological effects of bronchodilation and anti-inflammation respectively.
