Abstract
A broadband switched public network is needed to allow image management to realize its full potential. The worldwide telephone network-actually a network of networks - provides any-to-any communication with high quality, availability and reliability and exemplifies all the characteristics needed, except for full digital connectivity and wide bandwidth.
