Abstract

In this paper coaxial probe fed rectangular Dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is presented. A cylindrical conductor pin in inserted in to DRA to bring the additional resonance. The impedance Bandwidth (<-10 dB) of 40% was achieved by optimizing the feed location and conductor pin length. And modes were are also identified for corresponding resonances. Probe monopole resonance, TM122 mode of DRA and loaded Pin resonances are made to couple to achieve the impedance matching over a wide bandwidth. The radiation characteristics of the antenna are also explained.
