A study on feasibility of taxi tracking application to reduce the impact on environment

Abstract

In Recent years with the rapid development of wireless sensor technologies in mobile environments, such as GPS, has influenced the existing method of doing taxi business to change profoundly. Recent development has been the use of mobile apps as a personalized service for both the drivers and passengers such as taxi tracking application. The taxi tracking application helps the passengers and drivers to locate each other easily and conveniently reducing time and fuel consumption. This paper presents an understanding of the current working of the taxi operation in Phuentsholing area. It presents methods and results of questionnaire survey as well as the results of the interviews. It illustrates the problems that are faced by the passengers while taking the taxis and it also illustrates struggles of the taxi drivers. To solve the problems that are confronted by the passengers and drivers currently, the paper discusses some key considerations in the development of a taxi tracking android application that would address these problems.
