Abstract

This paper presents a Fuzzy Supervisory controller of an induction motor. In proposed method, conventional and fuzzy logic controllers are incorporated by using vector control technique. This method improves the response of induction motor by combining the advantages of conventional and fuzzy logic controllers. The conventional PID controllers have some limitations. These controllers are usually uncertain in case of load and parameters variations. To overcome these limitations, a Fuzzy-Supervisory controller has been designed which selects the three gains i.e. Kp, Ki and Kd of the PID controller. Rules of the fuzzy controller have been defined to calculate the optimal range of gains values. Simulation results of conventional PID controller are compared along with Fuzzy supervisory controller in terms of several performance measurements such as settling time (Ts), rise time (Tr) and maximum percent overshoot (Mp) at numerous load conditions. The simulation results verified the effectiveness of the proposed Fuzzy Supervisory controller under different operating conditions.
