Abstract
In the context of the development of European integration processes, there is an increase in the role of quality in general and product quality in particular in the activities of domestic enterprises, which creates the need, first of all, to improve the management system of economic entities. World experience confirms the hypothesis about the expediency of introducing a quality management subsystem into the management system of domestic enterprises, which ensures, along with other advantages, the production of quality products. However, the implementation of this task requires the presence of an appropriate theoretical base. Which led to the appearance of a fairly significant number of works by scientists and practitioners regarding the problem of the essence and ensuring the quality of products. The results of the analytical study of the scientific provisions regarding the theoretical aspects of product quality indicate the presence of generally several positions of scientists regarding the interpretation of the concept of "product quality". It was established that some positions of scientists are incomplete, others are debatable. Based on the provisions of international and domestic ISO standards, the results of research by scientists, as well as based on the practical experience of enterprises that have successfully implemented a quality management system in their own operations, the author's definition of the essence of the concept of "product quality" is proposed - as a result of the compliance of the product's own characteristics with the requirements ( needs and expectations) of the consumer and other key stakeholders, which (requirements) can be formulated, generally understood, mandatory, as well as not formulated, not generally understood and not mandatory, constantly progress and form their own product characteristics. Compared to the positions available in the scientific literature, this definition reflects all the key aspects of product quality and makes it possible to form an effective approach to its management at the enterprise. In addition, the essence and main types of the product's own characteristics are highlighted. The content of product requirements is revealed. The formulation of the concept of "interested party (stakeholder) of the enterprise" and their list in modern business conditions are given.
