ENQUÊTE SUR LES SERVICES REÇUS ET LES BESOINS DE SOUTIEN DE PARENTS DE PERSONNES PRÉSENTANT UNE DÉFICIENCE INTELLECTUELLE AU QUÉBEC

Abstract

A large survey was conducted among 567 parents of individuals with intellectual disability to identify received services, perceived support for these services, and parental support needs. The results reveal significant differences between the level of intellectual disability and the age of the person. The needs most expressed by the majority of participants relate to the forecasting of the future and the aging of the person with intellectual disability. The types and sources of support considered most and least helping are also presented. Objectives aimed to explain the patterns of use of services, perceived assistance and needs are discussed.
