Abstract
This investigation examined how cognitive operations in a second language (L2) interact with a first language (L1). We utilized a "knowledge structure" measurement method to determine the lexical structure of bilingual learners elicited as semantic maps before (Premap), during (During map), and after (Post map) writing in L1 and L2.
