Railway communication has built up its digital transmission network, programming control exchange network and digital communication network. Though we have made some achievements, we should be aware that making innovations in railway technology is not easy, especially when faced with the rapid progress of worldwide railway techniques and the urgent demands in our railway industry. Abstract

Technical innovations are perpetual forces for railway development. In China, since the implementation of a reforming and open policy, the Chinese railway has been fruitful in the fields of scientific research and development, as well as in the application and dissemination of new technologies. At the same time that high-speed technology has been advancing, breakthroughs have been made in information techniques. Railway communication has built up its digital transmission network, programming control exchange network and digital communication network. Though we have made some achievements, we should be aware that making innovations in railway technology is not easy, especially when faced with the rapid progress of worldwide railway techniques and the urgent demands in our railway industry. We are still in the elementary stage of some fields.
