Abstract
The characteristics of a microstrip filter with a tilted ground plane are investigated. An analysis is performed to compare the properties of a microstrip filter with a flat ground plane to those of microstrip filters with tilted ground plane with different inclination angles, as well as types. The performed computational tests in laboratory showed an improvement of up to 22% in the bandwidth of the filter prototypes with tilted ground planes, while maintaining the impedance matching at a satisfactory level. It is shown that is possible to improve the filter bandwidth by varying the angles and dimensions of the tilted ground plane.
