A case study

Abstract

. It is been presented the case of chronic osteomyelitis of the clavicle with hyperostosis reaction in non-union in a patient aged 21 years. He underwent an urgent surgery 2.5 months ago in the trauma department at the place of residence. Fistula functioned for 1 month. Upon admission to the clinic, a diagnosis was established: chronic osteomyelitis of the left clavicle with a pronounced hyperostosis reaction, fistula form, active phase, non-union of the left clavicle fracture, the state after osteosynthesis with an intramedullary rod. We performed an operation to remove the rod from the left clavicle, debride-ment of necrotic tissues and osteosynthesis of fragments by external fixation. After surgery, an intravenous antibacterial therapy was conducted: zinaсef 1.5 g once, then 0.75 g three times a day for 5 days; metrogyl 100 ml intravenously three times a day for 5 days. The postoperative wound healed by primary intension. Fistula closed. The fracture of left clavicle healed after 6 months. External fixator was removed. The re-covery is complete.
