The Convolutional codes are decode using two techniques bit-based maximum a posteriori probability (Log-MAP) decoder with its soft outputs feed into a binary LDPC decoder, and a symbol-based Log-MAP decoder with its soft outputs feed into a non-binary Galois Field LDPC decoder.
