Abstract

The paper describes the project of establishing educational fab lab facility - Fab Lab Petnica within the Science Center Petnica as a collaborative effort of three partners: lead partner - Fab Initiative and two other: Science Center Petnica and Belgrade Metropolitan University. It is described in detail how the Fab lab Petnica is being formed for the use 1) as a platform for hands-on STEM education through FabLab@School (the new name FabLearnLabs) approach and 2) as a channel to introduce high school students & teachers to basics of STEM entrepreneurship. 1) FabLearnLabs approach entails a) putting cutting-edge technology for digital fabrication (DF) - 3D printers & laser cutters & robotics - into the hands of high school students and b) training teachers on how to integrate DF into their STEM lectures and also how to use DF to make their own, low-cost equipment for performing scientific experiments with students in their local science clubs. In this way, Fab lab Petnica is used to implement fablearnlabs approach to enhance STEM (science, tech, engineering, math) education process in Serbia.

Fab lab Petnica
