Abstract

Innovations in construction of a large concrete gravity dam include underground crushing chamber, multiple parallel track cableways, long span luffing cableway, conveyor placement of concrete, water reducing admixture, self-raising forms, precast galleries, sloping stationary and slip forms, testing of horizontal construction joint treatment and concrete placement methods, two-way flow control for concrete after-cooling and repair of diversion channel while passing full river flow.
