Organization of foreign language adaptation training in a technical university during the pandemic

Abstract

Рассматриваются вопросы организации адаптационной иноязычной подготовки в российском техническом вузе в период пандемии COVID-19. Автор полагает, что общие объективные изменения вынужденного дистанционного образовательного процесса также характерны и для адаптационного обучения. Выявлены противоречия, возникшие в период обязательного дистанционного обучения и препятствующие достижению ожидаемых результатов в адаптационном обучении английскому языку на примере Томского политехнического университета. Обосновывается необходимость более углубленного изучения механизмов и принципов адаптационного обучения. Подчеркивается важность определения ключевых моментов, которые обеспечили успешное педагогическое сопровождение адаптационного курса в период пандемии. Делается вывод о том, что цифровая трансформация российской системы образования неизбежна, однако необходимо задуматься о системном подходе к построению новой образовательной среды. In connection with the threat of the spread of a new coronavirus in March 2020, all Russian universities had to switch to a distance learning format. The mass transition to a distance format of training has revealed a number of problems and contradictions in the possibilities of implementing higher education programs in a distant form. This required a deep and detailed analysis of different aspects of distance training, the readiness of all participants in the educational process, the availability of material, technical and methodological support. The article considers the issues of organization of Foreign Language adaptation training in a technical university during the COVID-19 pandemic. The author believes that the general objective changes of compulsory distance training process are also typical for Foreign Language adaptation training. The contradictions emerged in this period are revealed on the example of Tomsk Polytechnic University. The article gives proof of the necessity of more in-depth study of the adaptation training mechanisms and principles. The importance of identifying the key points that ensured successful pedagogical support of adaptation course during the pandemic is emphasized. The conclusion is made that the digital transformation of the Russian education system is inevitable, but it is necessary to think about a systematic approach to building a new educational environment.
