Abstract

In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm for increasing energy efficiency of individual IEEE 802.11 WAPs (Wi-Fi Access Points). The algorithm is trained based on monitoring Traffic Flow, Clients/Subscribers Flow and RF coverage map Flow, using cross-correlation to determine the optimal Traffic Level Filling by WAPs during the observed time period. WAPs are managed by central monitoring system to increase the energy efficiency. The proposed algorithm enables a significant percentage increase in energy efficiency for IEEE 802.11 WAPs systems.
