Abstract

High voltage direct current (HVDC) overhead transmission lines produce ion flow and space charge which lead to serious contamination than that of high voltage alternating current (HVAC). Corona and contamination of HVDC may be restrained by covering conductors with insulation layer. In the paper, model of HVDC overhead transmission lines with covered conductors is presented. Electric field is calculated. Results show that covered conductors can restrain ion flow field obviously.
