The main attention is paid to the effects that can be achieved thanks to the SSVR. Abstract

The article is devoted to the development of a parameter control device for a medium voltage (MV) distribution electrical network. The classification of existing MV network control devices is given. Their advantages and disadvantages have been noted. The solid-state voltage regulator (SSVR) developed by the authors is simple and versatile. The design of the SSVR is presented and the network parameter regulating principle is described. The main attention is paid to the effects that can be achieved thanks to the SSVR. Adjusting the amplitude and phase angle of the voltage at the SSVR output allows controlling the active and reactive power flows, increasing the transmission line capacity, reducing the electrical losses in the network, ensuring the power system stable operation, etc. Options for the SSVR installation locations have been considered.
