Abstract

Monitoring of respiratory signal is essential to diagnose health problems. However, the procedure involved is too intrusive and causes discomfort to the patients. This paper elaborates the development of an IoT based wearable sensor to monitor the real-time respiratory signal. A textile based pressure fabric is attached to a belt converting the thoracic/stomach movement into electrical signal. The electrical signal is transmitted to a central base station where it is displayed in real time and is finally uploaded to an online repository for future analysis. Respiratory signals were studied as individuals performed activities like walking and talking.
