Gender stereotyping: Women's challenges when seeking healthcare leadership

Abstract

This paper will discuss attributions, stereotyping, the relationship between them, and the challenges it creates for women seeking leadership positions in health care. Our paper presents different theories and models of stereotyping and some new controversies on gender stereotyping. It also introduces some strategies for managers to use when working with young women interested in pursuing leadership roles in the healthcare field. Gender and gender stereotyping discussed in this paper points out the root of gender inequality in society and organizations.
