Abstract

The Old Polish continuations of the Greek διάκονος. A case study from the Greek and Latin lexical borrowings in Old Polish Summary This paper is focused on the problem of several Old Polish words, which have a common etymon in Greek διάκονος. The discussed forms are different formally and semantically and they were borrowed via different borrowing channels. The paper contains detailed etymological analysis of the investigated words and some conclusions concerning the problem of investigating the Greek and Latin borrowings in Old Polish in general.
