Abstract

Power System is a highly nonlinear system with number of interconnected machines. When the power system is subjected to fault, the stability of the system has been disturbed. FACTS devices are capable of retrieving the system to stable state. Non-linear controller like Fuzzy Logic controller are used with the FACTS devices for better performance. In this paper Fuzzy-PID based STATCOM is proposed to increase the stability of power system under fault condition. The controllers are developed using MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. Simulation results clearly indicated that the Fuzzy-PID based controller acts effectively on the power system under fault condition.
