Abstract

New method for estimating state of health of lead-acid batteries is reported in the paper. The method is based on estimating Ampere hour capacity of the lead-acid battery. Lead-acid batteries are used by electric rickshaws prevalent in developing countries including India, Bangladesh and Indonesia. Replacing lead-acid batteries causes a huge dent in the savings of the electric rickshaws driver. For extending the life of lead-acid batteries it is necessary to know it's state of health first. The proposed method can be easily appended onto a battery charger.
