Abstract

Vulnerability to disasters is a well-researched area. However, a major disaster in the form of a pandemic occurs once in a century. The models made for disaster preparedness are untested for such a calamity. The publication of a vulnerability index for the states in India proclaimed that the same can be applicable to COVID-19 too. The evolving pandemic in a vast geographic area such as India has not been predicable to a great extent. The vulnerability index was subjected to spatial regression and the vulnerability index was found to be lacking in significance at this stage of the pandemic. The emerging data will be continued to be scrutinized and spatial associations will be analysed.
